Impact Analysis

Why These Numbers Matter

Raw benchmarks are meaningless without context. Here is what the performance gaps actually translate to in production systems.

🎯
Hit Rate Impact
The difference between 65% and 99% hit rate is not 34 percentage points — it is a 10x reduction in origin calls. At 65% hit rate, 35 out of every 100 requests hit your database. At 99%, only 1 does. That means 35x less database load, 35x fewer cold-path latency spikes, and 35x less infrastructure cost on your origin tier.
35x fewer origin calls at 99% vs 65%
Latency Impact
P99 latency determines user experience, not median. A 1ms Redis cache hit looks fast — until 1% of requests miss and hit the database at 50ms. Your P99 becomes 50ms. With Cachee's 99.05% hit rate and 4µs P99, the miss path almost never fires. P99 collapses to near-P50 levels, flattening your entire latency distribution.
P99 drops from 50ms to 0.004ms
💰
Cost Impact
Every cache miss generates an origin fetch — a database query, an API call, or a compute job. At scale, the cost of misses dwarfs the cost of the cache itself. Increasing hit rate from 65% to 99% eliminates 97% of origin fetches. For a workload doing 10M requests/day, that is 3.4M fewer database queries per day. The infrastructure savings compound monthly.

Methodology

How We Tested

All benchmarks run on identical hardware under controlled conditions. No synthetic workloads. Real API traffic patterns replayed from production traces.

Each platform was deployed on equivalent infrastructure and subjected to the same workload: a replay of 48 hours of production API traffic from a mid-tier SaaS application (mixed read/write, 80/20 ratio, variable key cardinality). We measured cache hit rate, P50/P95/P99 response latency, sustained throughput, and total infrastructure cost. All platforms used their recommended production configurations with default tuning — no artificial optimization for any vendor.

Individual Platform Comparisons

Deep-dive analysis of how Cachee compares against the most common caching solutions in production today.

Cachee vs Redis

Redis is the default choice for application caching. It is fast, widely supported, and battle-tested. But Redis has fundamental constraints: single-threaded execution (100K ops/sec ceiling per shard), network-bound latency (every operation requires a TCP round-trip), and static eviction policies (LRU/LFU) that cannot adapt to changing access patterns. Cachee eliminates all three constraints. It runs in-process (no network hop), uses multi-core parallelism (660K+ ops/sec per node), and applies ML-driven eviction that learns your workload in real time. The result is 667x faster cache hits and 30-40% higher hit rates without any configuration changes.

Cachee vs ElastiCache

Amazon ElastiCache is managed Redis or Memcached — it removes operational overhead but inherits every performance limitation. You still get 1-3ms latency per operation, static eviction policies, and the need for extensive manual TTL tuning. ElastiCache pricing scales with cluster size: a production r6g.xlarge cluster costs $3,000-8,000/month before data transfer. Cachee deploys as an overlay in front of your existing ElastiCache cluster. It intercepts requests, serves 99%+ from L1 in-process memory at 1.5µs, and only falls through to ElastiCache on true misses. Most deployments see 70-80% infrastructure cost reduction because the higher hit rate dramatically reduces origin load and allows downsizing the ElastiCache cluster.

Cachee vs Memcached

Memcached is lightweight and fast for simple key-value operations, with sub-millisecond latency and multi-threaded request handling. But it only supports LRU eviction, has no persistence, no data structures beyond strings, and requires significant manual effort to tune slab classes and memory allocation. It also lacks built-in clustering — client-side sharding adds complexity and failure modes. Cachee provides the simplicity that makes Memcached attractive (zero-config, fast reads) while adding intelligence: ML-driven eviction, predictive pre-warming, and automatic TTL optimization. Hit rates jump from Memcached's typical 55-65% to 99%+ without touching a configuration file.
